Bronze Tableware Collection

A Tea Scoop, Dessert Spoon and Swizzle Stick make the Bronze Tableware Collection. The Tea Scoop is intended for the art of making tea, the Dessert Spoon for enjoying confectioneries and the Swizzle Stick to stir your favourite beverage. These utensils aim to be objects that people connect with and create a routine around making them objects that you want to keep and cherish for a long time.

Inspired by the bamboo tools used in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony the, Tea Scoop was first sketched, modelled on computer, 3d-printed in wax and then cast in solid bronze.

The bronze Tea Scoop is a tool to create more enjoyment through making a ritual around the mundane task of making a pot of tea. A Dessert Spoon and a Swizzle Stick were added to include rituals of eating confectioneries and mixing beverages that are both connected to an experience of tea.

The traditional Japanese tea ceremony is said to give inner harmony, respect, purity and a sense of tranquillity. It is about an aspirational mode of being and becoming enlightened; an inner transformative practice through tea.

We are all busy people so why would we prioritise the menial monotonous tasks of everyday life? A prescribed set of actions lead to a heightened experience because the actions increase our involvement with the experience itself. This means we get more enjoyment out of an experience if it is performed as a ritual. A ritual creates a controlled environment where we can predict the outcome giving us a sense of comfort and control of our lives. Can we make our daily routines engaging rituals?

The collection received an award by the Real Danish Design Awards in the category ‘Products and Objects’ in 2020.

The Tea Scoop was announced as winner of a Wallpaper* Design Award 2019 in the category ‘Best Brew’.
